Do Your Supplements Contain Rosemary Extract?Updated 6 months ago

Rosemary Extract is present in many of our products.

Rosemary Extract is likely part of your dog's supplements. If you look at the back of any of our labels, chances are you will see Rosemary Extract called out as an inactive ingredient.  You may also see Mixed Tocopherols mentioned.

Why is Rosemary Extract used as an ingredient in your products?

Rosemary extract is often used in pet supplements for several reasons:

  1. Natural Preservative: Rosemary extract contains compounds that have antioxidant properties, which can help prevent the oxidation of fats and oils in pet food and supplements. This natural preservative function helps extend the shelf life of the product without the need for synthetic additives.

  2. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Rosemary extract contains bioactive compounds such as carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, which have anti-inflammatory properties. In pet supplements, these properties may help support joint health and reduce inflammation associated with conditions like arthritis.

  3. Antimicrobial Properties: Some components of rosemary extract have been shown to have antimicrobial properties, helping to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria and fungi. This can be beneficial in pet supplements to maintain product freshness and prevent microbial contamination.

  4. Digestive Health: Rosemary extract may also support digestive health in pets. It can help stimulate the production of bile, which aids in the digestion and absorption of fats. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory properties may soothe the digestive tract and alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort.

What are Mixed Tocopherols?

Mixed tocopherols are a combination of different forms of vitamin E, primarily including alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Each form of tocopherol has slightly different antioxidant properties and benefits. Mixed tocopherols are commonly used as dietary supplements and as natural preservatives in food products to prevent oxidation and extend shelf life.

Rosemary extract is often used as a natural preservative in mixed tocopherols to enhance the stability and shelf life of the product. Rosemary extract's antioxidant properties help prevent the oxidation of fats and oils present in mixed tocopherols, thereby maintaining their quality and effectiveness. Additionally, rosemary extract can contribute its own health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, to the overall formulation
